Rebel Supports Kowanyama Kids Through Future Immortals Tour
The power of sport was on full display in Kowanyama recently as Rebel, in partnership with the Arthur Beetson Foundation, brought activities, equipment, and inspiration to local students as part of the Future Immortals Tour.
Steve Lacey, a proud Wakka Wakka man and State Retail Operations Manager for Rebel, joined the tour to highlight the importance of community connection through sport.
“We’ve been a proud partner of the Arthur Beetson Foundation since its formation,” Lacey said. “To be a part of these community tours, where we can come to schools like Kowanyama and see the kids getting involved in games, really shows the essence of sport.”
Across the day, children enjoyed touch football, basketball, and a range of fun activities led by former rugby league players, while also receiving messages about healthy living, education, and the positive role sport can play in their lives.
Rebel gifted the students footies, caps, and water bottles — simple but powerful tools to encourage activity long after the tour has left. “They’ll be kicking those footies for weeks,” Lacey said with a smile.
The initiative also ties directly into the Super Retail Group’s Reconciliation Action Plan, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting First Nations communities. “Our support helps bring these tours to life,” Lacey explained. “We’re proud to back the Foundation and see firsthand the difference it makes.”
During the tour, the program continued with a larger community day featuring coaching clinics and football matches, designed to unite locals in celebration of sport and culture.
For the Arthur Beetson Foundation and its partners, including Rebel, the mission is clear: inspire the next generation, strengthen community ties, and celebrate the transformative power of sport.
